520 3# - SUMMARY, ETC.
Summary, etc. 'There seems reason to believe that few of the events of human life are entirely unassociated with the occult influence of number; but, in order to prove the reality of such influence, it has been necessary to select some department of experience which will lend itself especially to the illustration of this mysterious truth....Under these circumstances the author has determined to show that "the glorious uncertainty" of horse-racing itself becomes amenable to the law of numbers, when these are properly applied to the investigation of the questions to which it gives rise.' --pp. 8-9
