Abstract: 'I have transcribed these tales in the hope of serving a two-fold purpose; to add some instructive and (in the best sense of the word) amusing "knowledge" about the heroes of the Bible, and to place on permanent record a body of lore that reveals not only the mentality of the present-day Arabs but something of that of their ancestors.' -- Preface
