Abstract: 'In addition to the sayings of our Lord recorded in the Gospels, many are to be found in other sources: other parts of the New Testament, the Papyri, and the Fathers, as well as the apocryphal gospels and other heretical writings. Out of this wealth of material, Professor Jeremias has collected a number of sayings which, by quite objective standards, he regards as having as great a claim to consideration as those which are to be found in the canonical Gospels. He begins with an account of the recent work on the sayings and of their relevance to the study of the Gospels, and then treats the sayings one by one, discussing the source, authority, and theological significance of each.'
