Abstract: 'To read Fragments of A Poetics of Fire is to feel a closeness to the creative imagination of Gaston Bachelard. To read it is to be aware of the elevated place he accorded to images and to appreciate the concomitant pleasure one experiences when imagination is drawn into any endeavor. "To imagine is to heighten the tone of reality," he emphasizes. He is an acute observer, one who discovered much to celebrate in close involvement with the textures, fabrics, colors, and movements of the tangible world.' -- Foreword
