Abstract: 'Unlike the many books written about the devastating effects of actual incest, this book examines the symbolism of incest imagery for everyone--actual victims or not. From a Jungian perspective, conscious assimilation of incest symbolism can lead the individual away from dependent, habitual clinging to unconscious impulses and primitive behavior. Using a medieval variation of the Oedipus myth as an archetykpal map, John Perkins outlines for contemporary women and men the symbolic journey that leads out of infantile attachments into integrated maturity, authentic individuality, and liberated creativity.'
