'In my effort to trace the nature and development of Joyce's mind as reflected in his work, I will first use Freudian insights to show how Joyce's mind was formed and to explore its unconscious aspect. Then I will show the relation between these influences and Joyce's conscious, mature ideas, which I'll explain partly in Jungian terms.'
